Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City
Manchester City suffer their first defeat at Tottenham since 2018
Son's stunning second-half strike wins it for Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur produced a superb performance to beat Manchester City 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to Son Heung-min's second-half strike. It was only Spurs' second win over Pep Guardiola's side in their last 13 meetings, and their first at home since 2018.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side started the game brightly and could have taken the lead inside the opening 10 minutes through Lucas Moura and Son. However, it was Manchester City who created the better chances as the half wore on, with Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, and Joao Cancelo all going close.
But Spurs took the lead against the run of play in the 55th minute. Son picked up the ball on the left flank and drove inside before unleashing a stunning strike that flew into the top corner. It was a moment of brilliance from the South Korean, who has now scored three goals in his last two games.
Manchester City pushed for an equalizer, but Spurs defended resolutely and held on for a famous victory. It was a performance that will give Nuno Espirito Santo and his players great belief, and it could prove to be a turning point in their season.
