Cowboys Defensive End Sam Williams Suffers Season Ending Injury

Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams suffers season-ending injury

Rising star expected to have increased role

Team depth to be tested

FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams, who was expected to have an increased role this season, has suffered a season-ending injury, the team confirmed.

Williams, 25, was gearing up for his third season with the Cowboys when he suffered the injury during Sunday's training camp practice. The team did not disclose the nature of the injury.

Williams, the grandson of country music legend Hank Williams and the son of Hank Williams Jr., has shown promise since being drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys will now have to adjust their defensive plans without Williams, who was expected to play a key role in the team's pass rush this season.
