NAIA No. 13 Dickinson State Holds Off Rocky To Remain Unbeaten
Dickinson State University football team remains undefeated after a hard-fought victory over Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears.
DICKINSON, N.D. - The No. 13-ranked Dickinson State University Blue Hawks football team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 24-21 victory over the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears on Saturday afternoon at Whitney Stadium.
DSU's Defense Stands Tall
The Blue Hawks' defense came up with big plays when they needed them, forcing four turnovers and sacking Rocky quarterback Jake Bolles six times.
Linebacker Chance Otterson led the way with 10 tackles, including 2.5 sacks, and defensive back Jalen Eberhardt had two interceptions.
DSU's Balanced Offensive Attack
The Blue Hawks' offense was balanced, with running back Jadon Johnson rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Tyler Emrick throwing for 169 yards and a score.
Emrick also ran for a touchdown.
Rocky's Strong Performance
The Battlin' Bears (1-2) played a tough game, but ultimately could not overcome the Blue Hawks' defense.
Bolles threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Hunter Nicholson rushed for 94 yards.
National Stage
The win keeps Dickinson State in the national spotlight, as they are now one of just 13 undefeated teams in the NAIA.
The Blue Hawks will look to continue their winning ways next Saturday when they travel to Jamestown, North Dakota, to take on the University of Jamestown Jimmies.
