Brewers Lose 5-3 as Phillies Force Tiebreaker Game

Philadelphia Extends Season Series, NL Central Race

The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 on Wednesday night, denying the Brewers a chance to clinch the National League Central title.

With the win, the Phillies forced a tiebreaker game on Thursday, which will determine the NL Central champion.

The Phillies took an early lead in the game, scoring two runs in the first inning off Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff.

The Brewers tied the game in the third inning on a home run by Rowdy Tellez, but the Phillies regained the lead in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Nick Castellanos.

The Brewers tied the game again in the sixth inning on a single by Willy Adames, but the Phillies took the lead for good in the seventh inning on a home run by Bryce Harper.

The Phillies bullpen was strong in relief, with Connor Brogdon, Brad Hand, and Seranthony Dominguez combining to allow just one hit over the final three innings.

Phillies starter Aaron Nola pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

The Brewers had a chance to tie the game in the ninth inning, but pinch-hitter Mike Brosseau grounded out to end the game.

The Brewers will now face the Phillies in a tiebreaker game on Thursday at American Family Field.

The winner of the tiebreaker game will win the NL Central title and advance to the playoffs.
