MTV to Get Animated
Starsky & Hutch, Daria, and Beavis & Butt-Head Getting Revived
Shows Part of Paramount+ Reboot Strategy With Focus on Hit Franchises
MTV announced last Wednesday that it will be rebooting three popular animated series: _Starsky & Hutch_, _Daria_, and _Beavis & Butt-Head._ The shows will be part of Paramount+'s strategy to focus on hit franchises and appeal to nostalgic viewers.
_Starsky & Hutch_ will be a two-hour animated film that follows the iconic detective duo as they investigate a new case. The film will be written by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, who previously worked on _Star Trek: Discovery_, and produced by Michael De Luca, who produced _The Social Network_ and _Moneyball._
_Daria_ will be a new animated series that follows the titular character as she navigates the challenges of high school and life in the early 2000s. The series will be written and executive produced by Grace Edwards, who previously worked on _BoJack Horseman_, and produced by MTV Studios.
_Beavis & Butt-Head_ will be a new animated series that follows the iconic duo as they navigate the challenges of life in the 21st century. The series will be written and executive produced by Mike Judge, who created the original series, and produced by MTV Studios.
MTV's decision to reboot these three animated series is part of a larger strategy to focus on hit franchises and appeal to nostalgic viewers. Paramount+ has already had success with other reboots, such as _Star Trek: Discovery_ and _The Good Fight_. The company is hoping that these new animated series will help to attract new subscribers and keep existing subscribers engaged.
The reboots of _Starsky & Hutch_, _Daria_, and _Beavis & Butt-Head_ are all expected to premiere on Paramount+ in 2023.
